Comprehensive support services available
Women with unmet basic needs cannot focus on educational success. To address this, our students have access to a comprehensive suite of support services—all at no cost to them. This differentiates Mercy Learning Center from other Fairfield County organizations—and most other Connecticut organizations—that provide literacy education.
Helping students prioritize their education
A food and diaper pantry, case workers, licensed child care/preschool, legal counsel, career and college counseling, citizenship assistance, referrals for legal and medical services, and much more are available on site, at no cost. Students are encouraged to share challenges with staff so that barriers can be addressed. Consistent attendance and graduation are more likely due to the fact that our students can find needed supports in the same building where they attend class. With basic needs met, our adult students can prioritize their own education.
Our Support Services and Early Childhood Education Program are available only for women who are currently enrolled at Mercy Learning Center.
Early Childhood Education Program
The centerpiece of our support services is our Early Childhood Education Program, which has served thousands of children of the women who attend Mercy Learning Center.
