Provide a holistic, compassionate environment for women at Mercy Learning Center

Volunteers are at the heart of our mission and we welcome volunteers of all ages, genders and backgrounds each year. These individuals help provide holistic, compassionate literacy and life skills education to low-income women and their children. All volunteers are subject to a background check.
Volunteers bring a diversity of talents and backgrounds that make our programs both dynamic and effective.

Host a Food or Diaper Drive!

Food and diaper drives stock our pantry shelves, allow Mercy Learning Center students to better focus on their education, and keep their families healthy! Here’s how to get started:

Step 1 – Review wish list

See what we have on our wish list by clicking the button below.

view wishlist

Step 2 – Decide format & location of your drive

You can host a one-day food drive where everyone brings their donations to a specific location. Or you can set up several collection points and accept donations for a few weeks. You can also partner with an event like a party or sports game and collect donations when people enter.

Step 3 – Promote your food or diaper drive

Spread the word to your friends, family, and colleagues.

Step 4 – Collect and deliver your food / diaper donations

Once you’ve collected all your food donations, it’s time to drop them off at Mercy Learning Center. We accept donations on Fridays between 10 am and noon, or you can schedule for another day by calling us at (203) 334-6699.

Step 5 – Thank your friends and donors

Include in your thank you note how much food you collected and how they can stay involved with Mercy Learning Center. Here is a sample note that you can customize!
